What do you know about the ERR?

Picture

The ERR (Einstazst Reichsleiter Rosenberg) was an organization founded in 1940 by the Nazis to ‘collect’ (steal) art from Jews who were deprted to 'correction facilities' (concentration and death camps).

Presently, the ERR is held responsible for stolen Jewish Art from WWII. Some paintings remained with the Nazis, while others were sold to art dealers for wonderful deals.

As of now, there are still over 100,000 Jewish artifacts that have not been returned to Jews.

Organizations have been created, legislations passed to locate the art dealers and stolen pieces of art. There were investigations in museums, where the history of of the paintings’ ownership was murky during years 1940-1945.

I spent a nice part of today reading about the ERR and the work that has been done to restore Jewish property to its proper owners, the legal aspects, etc…

Below are websites that contain fascinating information, so if you have time to kill, you know what to do.
